TTMT #578 - nmjewells - January 20, 2026 - Hazy Shade of Winter (Crafty ...

This week I talk about getting a new-to-me sewing machine, a Juki DX7. The throat is only a half inch shorter than my Juki 2000qi and it has a free arm. My plan for now is for this to be my everyday machine, and I'm going to put my older Juki straight stitch only machine away on my shelf, in case I have to put this one in the shop for any length of time. I can piece, quilt (small stuff like wall hangings, pot holders, etc), mend, alter, and construct garments on the DX7.

I also talk about making a new shop sample using a giant picturesque panel. The quilt I made with it was super easy and just used between 5/8-2/3 yard of the sashing/fabric (2.5 inch strips).

Stay Crafty Y'all and see you again soon!

Love,

jewells
