TTMT #384 - jewells68 - December 31, 2020 - The Last One of the Year

A little longer than usual but then this year has been longer than a usual year, too. In this video I look back at the past year and end it with 4 final quilt donations for Project Linus including the 2019 mystery quilt, my Space Book panel quilt, Kitties and Bunnies quilt (made from pieces of several panels including a tote bag panel, toaster cozy panel, and dresden cheater quilt panel), my Granny Squares quilt made from leftovers from the quilt I made from my mom's fabric for my great-niece and blocks from the 2014 LJ Birthday Blocks Swap. Thanks to the two quilts Kristel sent me, I have donated a total of 13 quilts to my local Project Linus chapter in 2020, which is one more than my goal for this year. I also talk about my 2012 LJ Birthday Blocks Swap quilt top that I'm going to finish in 2021, and I also show off my final fabric purchases for 2020, one of which is for the 2021 Project of Doom Anniversary Multi-Fandom Quiltalong. Whew! Thank you for being along for the ride and for your encouragement and support throughout this crazy effed up year. May 2021 bring you Peace, Love, Health, and, of course, plenty of Crafty Mojo!

TTMT #362 - jewells68 - July 21, 2020 - Bears and a Pillow Cover

Today I talk about finishing a thing (Zippered pillow cover for my daughter's body pillow) and making progress on other things (bear quilt on design wall and vintage 9-patch for Project Linus), and more straightening up in my project room. Or as I currently refer to it during this heat wave, "The Hot Box".



The fabric for the pillow cover, in case you are interested, is "Disney - Snow White - Floral Pastel Garden". There are multiple versions of the Disney Princesses in this line. Joann.com has it on the website, but it says you can't have it shipped or pick up in store, so I assume that means it's not in stock. There are multiple Etsy sellers selling it.















The "brown/grey" fabric I'm considering for the border on the bear quilt is "Up, Up & Away by Skinny LaMinx" for Cloud 9 Fabrics, color "smudge".

TTMT #358 - jewells68 - June 23, 2020 - Back in the Saddle Again!

I actually finished quilting, binding, and labeling my first Project Linus quilt since early this year, yay! I'm having to use batting scraps since I can't get new Linus batting, but that's ok, it just means fewer batting scraps stored in my Project Room. I've also paired 4 of my 5 remaining Linus tops with backing, and I have left some scraps out to use in the Side by Side QaL blocks that I need to finish. It feels so good to finally be finishing some things, or at least moving them along another step. I need batting, and probably just going to order some unless I hear we are having a Linus drop off in July. I'm glad I filmed yesterday, because we have thunderstorms moving in today. One day at a time... one quilt at a time!

In which I talk giving my coworkers some fabric masks and gearing up for the new Project Linus 2020 Mystery Quilt. Yes, it's already almost time for this year's mystery quilt! Hard to believe, but it's true. The time has come to start quilting again. I'm ready.

My first post-mask craft project was making myself a belt from a leftover bit of cotton webbing from my December/January grocery tote endeavors. Had the perfect sized d-rings on hand! Pleased with the easy, fast results.

Happy Birthday to our founder and my very bestest friend, Jennifer! I recorded for over 20 minutes so that I could get mostly coherent versions of every part of this song, and then chopped out all of the stamping and swearing, and then spliced the mostly best parts together as best I could with my crappy editing skills. All the hugs going out to you, Ms. Jennifer!

TTMT #348 - jewells68 - April 1, 2020 - That's 3 Quilts My Friends, Blow...

Sorry about the crappy sound but I'm outside. I am just thrilled the neighbor quit using his power tools right as I started filming. And the the dog forgot I was there until the end. But finally, here's those three quilts I was meant to turn in to Project Linus in March, before the meeting got cancelled. At least I got to go outside and enjoy the beautiful day today!

Not a lot happening crafty-wise here at the moment, but I did update a couple of quilt tops in my "waiting to quilt" collection by making them wide so that they meet Project Linus' size requirements for toddler quilts. I also am looking forward to a new machine I ordered with a bunch of fun stitches to play with, and that will let me finish some applique quilts I have hanging around.

Y'all I am quilting again, yaaaaaaaay! Actually quilted two Project Linus quilts over the weekend, have the binding picked out, just need to sew the binding together and bind those suckers. Words cannot express how joyful I am at quilting again. I am seriously deliriously happy about this! Here's to many more quilts to come!

So I'm still waiting to receive what will hopefully get me quilting on my Qzone Hoop Frame. Meanwhile I'm binding a quilt for Project Linus that Jennifer quilted for me in December so that I have something to turn in at the February meeting. I also didn't mention that I have a sideways shell blanket currently on the hook, but only work on it occasionally because of the wrist, so it's likely going to take a while to finish. I'm dragging myself into the new year with not a lot of things to show, and I'm totally ok with that. I get done what I get done. I didn't mention WHY I haven't gotten anything else done over the past week, my wrist decided it was tired of doing things and started screaming at me to stop. Said wrist is currently in a time out. Hopefully I'll be back to making things soon.
